Audio and communications equipment maker Kenwood Corp. said Wednesday it has signed an agreement to acquire U.S. wireless communications system company Zetron Inc. from its parent, Zetron Holdings Inc., in late April.

The Redmond, Wash.-based firm, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary, will enhance Kenwood's communications equipment division, the Japanese firm said.

The deal will allow Kenwood to integrate its wireless communications terminals with the U.S. firm's communications systems for traffic control, security and other services, according to Kenwood.
