A major Osaka-based entertainment conglomerate is taking Tokyo by storm.

Since November, Yoshimoto Kogyo, which has long dominated entertainment in the Kansai region, is drawing throngs to the Asakusa district with its stable of stage and TV celebrities, including comedians, "manzai" standup duos and "rakugo" comic storytellers.

Every weekend, young and old alike are filling the 325-seat Kaminari 5656 Kaikan (Thunder Hall) for the show called "Yoshimoto Asakusa Kagetsu" ("Flower and Moon").
