SINGAPORE (Kyodo) Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki will hold talks with U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Saturday, their first meeting since Paulson assumed the post July 10, Finance Ministry officials said.

Although no specific agenda has been set for the talks in Singapore, the two are likely to discuss their respective economies, the impact of high oil prices and the Chinese economy, including currency system reforms.

The financial chiefs of the world's two biggest economies may also talk about possible financial sanctions against Iran over the nuclear standoff, a senior Finance Ministry official said.

The talks will take place before a one-day meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors from the Group of Seven nations.
