Japan Telecom Co. and Softbank BB Corp. said Monday they have agreed to integrate their public wireless local area network, or LAN, systems.
The accord will combine Softbank BB's Yahoo! BB Mobile Zone service in urban spots, including McDonald's outlets and hotels, and Japan Telecom's Mobile Point service in Japan Railway train stations, said Internet investor Softbank Corp., which controls the two firms.
The combined roaming service, to be called BB Mobile Point, will begin Oct. 3 following trial services.
