A hospital in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture, reported to police Sunday that 70 million yen was stolen from a cash box.

A live-in employee at Asawa Hospital found a window in a first-floor room broken at around 7 a.m., and Hospital Director Yoshiyuki Asawa discovered the theft after checking the building and finding a cash box on the second floor had been broken into, the police said.

Asawa, his wife and four employees are living in the hospital, and they said they hadn't detected any trouble as of Saturday evening, according to the police.

The police said are investigating the incident.
