LONDON (Kyodo) Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB announced Tuesday the launch of the W800, the first Walkman-brand mobile phone to allow owners to listen to music, handle calls and take pictures and videos.

The London-based company said in a statement that the W800 is "the first product to combine a mobile phone, a high-quality digital music player with up to 30 hours of battery life, and a 2 megapixel camera."

The product weighs less than 100 grams, said Sony Ericsson, the 50-50 joint venture between Sony Corp. and Sweden's Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson.

"The W800 has great sound quality, is easy to use, has superb battery life and can store a large amount of music," the company said. "It's an attractive, desirable device that combines high-quality phone, camera, music and games player."
