OSAKA (Kyodo) Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wang Yi on Thursday called on Japan to launch negotiations with China on a bilateral free-trade agreement.
As trade between China and Japan has been expanding, trade liberalization would help boost the Japanese economy, he told a business seminar in Kobe.
Wang said China has taken a positive attitude on an FTA with Japan. China wants to see a positive response from Japan, he said.
The government has been cautious about concluding an FTA with China due to intellectual property rights problems.
