While the primary objective for Cambodian scholarship students to Japan is get a better education, saving money is becoming a major incentive.

Families in Cambodia have been gleaning information from returnees on how to save money while in Japan.

Ek Buntha, president of Japan Alumni of Cambodia, which has more than 100 members, said that while the information is valuable, it is not necessarily best for all students.

"On average, each student can save about $20,000 by the end of their courses in Japan," he said recently.
