An earthquake Saturday afternoon registering an estimated magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale shook the Kanto region and Shizuoka Prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
The 3:10 p.m. quake measured 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the southern part of Chiba Prefecture.
