The Oita Prefectural Government is planning to set up a job search Web site in fiscal 2004.

The move is aimed at helping international students looking for a job, and local companies and nonprofit organizations hoping to hire foreign students as employees.

It forms part of efforts designed to make the prefecture friendly to foreign students and is the first initiative of its kind in Japan.

Oita Prefecture currently has 2,600 international students, standing second only to Tokyo in terms of the proportion of foreign students within its total population.
