Japan will host an antiterrorism meeting at the end of October to confirm cooperation with Southeast Asian countries in blocking the financial activities of terrorists, Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa said Saturday.

The meeting will be held in line with Saturday's agreement by the Group of Seven countries to carry out financial campaigns against terrorism, Shiokawa said at a joint news conference after a meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bank governors in Washington.

"With the unified stance of the G7, Japan will start the efforts against terror financing in cooperation with Southeast Asian countries," Shiokawa said.

The G7 countries agreed Saturday to track down and intercept the assets of terrorists and to pursue individuals and countries suspected of financing terrorists.
