The Kyocera Corp. group will cut about 10,000 jobs from its global workforce of 51,000, possibly within this year, to deal with the worldwide slump in the information technology sector, company officials said Thursday.

The restructuring plan will mainly affect workers at the company's U.S. subsidiaries, including Kyocera Wireless Corp., they said.

Kyocera Wireless took over the business of mobile terminals from Qualcomm Inc. of the United States.
