Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will visit Sapporo in September to deliver a lecture at Sapporo Dome, the Sapporo Junior Chamber said Tuesday.

The chamber will invite 10,000 people to the event, slated for Sept. 17, chamber officials said.

The title of the lecture is "Hope," named after Clinton's hometown in Arkansas, the officials said.

The chamber initially invited Clinton to visit in May to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the body.

However, he backed out to attend the funeral for a daughter of a close friend.

The chamber received a letter from Clinton in early June in which he apologized for the cancellation and expressed a desire to visit Sapporo if invited again.
