Police arrested a man early Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on a street in Tomakomai, Hokkaido. According to investigators, Hideto Obuchi, 37, ambushed Chika Kawazoe, 23, at around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday in front of a bar she operates in the city, stabbing her in the left chest and side.

Kawazoe died of blood loss after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
