The newly established digital radio broadcasting station BSC will take over the broadcasting of "Voice of the Andes" after the Ecuador-based Japanese-language radio service goes off air today.

BSC, an affiliate of Japan's short-wave service Radio Tampa, said it will broadcast a 30-minute "Voice of the Andes" program from Monday through Friday, beginning Jan. 1.

The program was part of the world radio network run by the Herald Christ Jesus' Blessings missionary group, which has been broadcasting a daily Japanese-language service hosted by Japanese missionary Kazuo Ozaki and his wife Hisako for the past 36 years from Quito, Ecuador.

The program, which features reports about South America and Latin music, has attracted many dedicated fans in Japan and among Japanese immigrants in South America.

BSC, which began operations Dec. 1, said the daily 30-minute program will consist of past broadcasts reedited by Ozaki and his wife, both 68. The tapes will be flown to Japan.

BSC's "Voice of the Andes" program will be broadcast at 9:30 a.m. and again at 8:30 p.m.
