Police arrested a company employee on Sunday for allegedly beating his ex-wife to death.
Hitoshi Nakayama, 50, of Takase, Kagawa Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of bodily injury resulting in death, police said.
According to investigators, Nakayama, under the influence of alcohol, beat his ex-wife Yukie Nakayama, with whom he was living, in the head earlier this month, causing her to die Saturday afternoon.
Police arrested Nakayama on Sunday when he admitted to habitually beating his former wife over trifling matters when he was drunk.
The couple divorced in May because of Nakayama's violent behavior but continued to live together, police said.
