Sony Corp. President Nobuyuki Idei, whose company received close to 17,000 "ILOVEYOU" e-mail messages, said Friday in Hong Kong that he personally received about 10 of the virus-loaded missives.

"I had a lot of temptation to open them myself," Sony's chief executive joked at a lunch organized by the Asia Society and the Hong Kong-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "It let me realize many people love Sony Corporation."

"If you haven't received an (ILOVEYOU) letter, it means either you have a high-security system or digitally you are divided," he added.

Millions of computers throughout the world had their e-mail systems plagued and crippled by the "love bug" virus last week.

A Filipino computer student said Thursday it is possible the virus may have been accidentally released.
