Building seems to be very much on Uwe Kurt Kaestner's mind.

While the rebuilding of the German Embassy in Tokyo and helping cement Japan-Germany relations are high on the German ambassador's agenda, constructing the foundations for a successful Group of Eight summit in Okinawa this summer is something he views as "a special responsibility."

With Germany having played host to the G8 gathering last year, the 61-year-old, Dresden-born Kaestner said that his country feels "a special responsibility to pass on the flag."
