Police arrested a former member of pop music group Four Leaves and his former manager Friday for serving a female friend a drink laced with stimulants.

The former idol Toshio Egi, 47, president of Office Kid, an entertainment production company, and his former manager, Takayuki Kosaka, were arrested for violating the Stimulant Drugs Control Law.

The two admitted to the charges, police said.

Investigators said Egi, whose real name is Manabu Kameda, gave the 34-year-old woman "shochu," a clear liquor distilled from sweet potatoes and other plants, laced with stimulants on the night of May 11 at a bar run by Kosaka in Tokyo's Roppongi district.

The woman later went to a hospital with an accelerated heart beat and coldness in her hands and legs, police said.

According to the woman, Egi demanded she go out with him while encouraging her to drink the alcohol, they said.

Egi began his career as a 4-year-old child actor. He formed the group Four Leaves in 1968 with Masao Orimo and two others. Egi opened Office Kid after the group disbanded in 1978.
