BBQ and beer near Tokyo Tower

The Tokyo Prince Hotel’s popular seasonal treat, the open-air Garden Islands Beer Restaurant is open through Sept. 26.

The beer garden in Shiba Park has 600 seats and offers a barbecue with draft beer and other drinks in a lush green environment and great views of Tokyo Tower.

This year, the hotel has added a new barbecue set especially for groups of women (excluding Thu. and Fri.) The set includes many vegetables to grill, salad, appetizers and a glass of sparkling wine for a toast will be offered, too

There are three more barbecue menus to choose from available; starting with a ¥4,300 plan for food only and a ¥6,800 plan that comes with all-you-can-drink options. An a la carte menu is also available.

Kirin’s popular frozen beer and beer cocktails are also featured.

The beer garden is open from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with last orders at 9 p.m.

Noodle power to beat the heat

In preparation for the coming of summer, the Hotel New Otani Tokyo in offering its popular summer noodle menu at its Chinese restaurant, Taikan En, where customers can enjoy panoramic views from the 16th floor, through September 15.

In the depth of summer’s extreme heat and humidity, people tend to have a poor appetite and noodles are popular for their ease of eating in the summer.

The restaurant offers many noodles to recharge diners’ energy to fight the summer heat. Subgum noodles are served with many kinds of products such as boiled crab, shrimp, tomatoes and asparagus and can be enjoyed with two kinds of sauces.

The spiciness of the Szechuan-style black sesame noodles seasoned with Japanese pepper will boost customers’ energy, whether eaten cold or hot.

Additionally, a special set menu coming with the restaurant’s authentic dim sum and three desserts is also available.

The menu is available all day from ¥3,000 excluding tax and service charge.

An evening of fine Italian dining, music

The Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo’s signature Italian restaurant Piacere will hold a dinner event titled “Aria Night” featuring an authentic live opera, through August 27.

The name Piacere, means “pleasure” in Italian and the restaurant offers exclusive modern Italian dishes prepared by chef de cuisines Paolo Pelosi.

Every Wednesday evening, the restaurant welcomes an opera singer who will perform for diners. Customers can enjoy beautiful aria, including classic pieces by Puccini, Handel and Verdi through the four nightly performances.

In a theatrical ambiance, guests are sure to enjoy the culinary delights and fine wines in the restaurant’s sophisticated high-ceilinged dining area complete with Venetian glass chandeliers and a metropolitan city view.

There is no music charge for this event.
