Shigira Bayside Suite Allamanda, Okinawa’s premium resort hotel complex, has added “Pool Villa Lagoon Suite” rooms to its all-suite accommodations plan.
Pool Villa Lagoon Suite, located on Miyakojima Island, offers 70 luxurious rooms with daybeds by each window, a private swimming pool and sunlit balconies.
All rooms overlook a lagoon, golf course and Miyakojima’s sapphire-blue ocean.
Miyakojima is a white, coral island, some 300 km from Okinawa’s main island. It is a three-hour flight from Tokyo.
The resort gathers a distinctive Miyakojima style of cultural activities, a variety of marine sports and golf. The Shigira Bay Country Club is right in front of the hotel with magnificent views of the ocean from each of the 18 holes.
Rooms cost between ¥47,250 and ¥63,000 per person (double occupancy), including breakfast.
Egypt’s culinary treasures
The Pan Pacific Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu will hold an Egypt-themed culinary fair to coincide with the arrival of the “Egypt’s Sunken Treasures” exhibition in Yokohama on June 27.
During “Egyptian Week,” from June 28 to July 2, the hotel’s Cafe Tosca buffet restaurant will offer a range of Egyptian delicacies — including pita bread with baba ghanoug (egg plant paste) or hummus, kushari (green lentils, pasta, rice and caramelized onions) and salad, molokheiya (Egyptian spinach) soup, kofta kebab (skewer of minced mutton) and others — alongside the cafe’s own original selections.
The buffet is available from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and it costs ¥4,700 on weekdays and ¥5,600 on weekends and national holidays for adults and ¥2,800 for children aged between 6 and 12.

Evening with Kenzo Estate wine
The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo will feature Kenzo Estate at a winemaker’s dinner at its Michelin-rated Japanese restaurant Hinokizaka on July 7.
Kenzo Estate winery was established by the CEO of Capcom Co., Kenzo Tsujimoto, in Napa Valley, California, and started producing wines in 2005. It released its first vintage last autumn.
The dinner will showcase, among others, the winery’s main brand, called “Rindo,” and its “Ai” Cabernet Sauvignon, paired with Hinokizaka’s special course dinner for the Tanabata (Star) Festival, which falls on July 7.
Tsujimoto will share the evening with guests to talk about his enthusiasm for winemaking.
The dinner starts at 7 p.m. (reception at 6:30 p.m.) and costs ¥19,800 per person, excluding a 10 percent service charge.
