Beer, wine and a hot spring facelift

‘New’ Noboribetsu Grand reopens

With the addition of rooms equipped with private open-air hot-spring baths, renovations at the Noboribetsu Grand Hotel in Hokkaido have been completed.

To mark the end of the work, the hotel, which is located in one of Japan’s most famous hot springs resorts, is offering special opening rates.

Japanese-style rooms for two are ¥18,150 to ¥26,400 per person through Aug. 31, and Western twin rooms are ¥21,150 to ¥26,400 per person through Oct. 31.

Guests can enjoy the private open-air baths as well as the hotel’s large Japanese garden-style public bath.

A buffet breakfast and dinner in the third-floor Grand Hall are included in the plan.

The hotel is located at 154 Noboribetsu-Onsencho, Noboribetsu-shi, Hokkaido.

World Beer Festival in Shinjuku

The Hotel Century Southern Tower, located near JR Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, is holding a World Beer Festival at the Tribeks restaurant.

On the hotel’s 20th floor, Tribeks offers creative continental cuisine, the choicest selection of wines from around the world and great views of the metropolis from 100 meters above ground.

During the fair, 11 popular world beers from pilsner and stout to ale will be added to the menu and priced at ¥800 to ¥950 each.

The fair runs through Aug. 17. The hotel is a two-minute walk from the Southern Terrace Exit of Shinjuku Station.

Pacific Northwest wine party

Orca International wine importers will hold another of its popular Pacific Northwest wine parties at the Pink Cow bar in Aoyama on Friday, July 11, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The event will feature an open bar showcasing a dozen premium wines from Washington and Oregon, plus microbrew beers from Seattle’s Redhook Brewery.

There’ll also be a lavish dinner buffet prepared by Pink Cow chef Andy Warden and live music.

The price is ¥5,500 per person, and advance reservations are required — mail to book your place at the bar.
