Early birds stay longer in Hakone
The Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa has introduced an early check-in accommodation plan that extends a one-night stay at the hotel to 26 hours.
The 10 a.m. check-in time of the Morning Arrival Plan gives guests a few extra precious hours to unwind in the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel, surrounded by the rich nature of Kanagawa Prefecture.
The plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room (a French or sushi course). Free coffee, tea and juice are served in the “living room” between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., and champagne, beer and wine are added for the evening service (4 p.m.-7 p.m.).
Prices start from ¥36,100 (single occupancy) and ¥54,900 (double occupancy) for a twin room. Other room types are available.
The hotel is a 5-minute car ride from Gora Station on the Odakyu Hakone Tozan Tetsudo Line. Gora Station is 35 minutes from Hakone-Yumoto Station, which can be reached by Odakyu Romance Car Limited Express in 85 minutes from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. There is a free bus service from Gora to the hotel between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The hotel is also offering a free taxi service from Hakone-Yumoto Station on weekdays through March 19.

Yokohama goes Mediterranean
The Pan Pacific Yokohama Hotel Tokyu is holding a dinner buffet fair featuring Mediterranean cuisine at the Cafe Tosca restaurant.
The Cafe Tosca is a Mediterranean- style restaurant with a chic and resortlike atmosphere, bathed in sunlight and decorated with palm trees. The dinner buffet Kitchen Stadium, with its “action stage” where diners can watch chefs work their culinary magic, has become a popular attraction.
Starting with the Mediterranean cuisine fair, the Kitchen Stadium will become a regular feature throughout the year, with a themed country or region periodically bringing diners unique menus from all over the world.
The fair runs through Feb. 29, between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Prices are ¥4,700 on weekdays, and ¥5,600 Sat., Sun. and holidays for adults, and ¥2,800 for children (ages 6 to 12).

Westin Tokyo Austria Fair
The Westin Tokyo’s annual Austria Fair runs through Feb. 29 at The Terrace restaurant.
Hans-Jurgen Schauer, executive sous-chef of the Hotel Imperial Vienna, is in town to prepare and organize lunch and dinner buffets featuring authentic Austrian cuisine, with flavors from Hungary and other eastern European countries. Representative Austrian dishes include traditional Wiener schnitzel (breaded veal cutlet), goulash, Sachertorte (glazed chocolate cake) for dessert, and more.
The lunch buffet is ¥4,500 (¥5,500 on weekends and holidays) for adults and ¥2,400 for children, and the dinner buffet ¥6,800 and ¥3,400.
