To Tokyo clubbers, the name Pylon conjures images of overly tanned and underdressed young women teetering precariously on high clogs as they dance para-para style -- glow sticks in hand -- atop a bar (or other elevated surface). And at their center will be a handsome young man, shirt slipping off his back and body aglow with sweat as he shakes a magnum of Champagne on his hip (this being a sign for those below to ready themselves with heads uplifted and mouths open to receive the ensuing overflow of bubbles).

Such is the scene every Saturday night at Pylon -- Tokyo's premier ko-garu party hosted by that handsome young man, who is otherwise known as Phil Miller.

It was just as well that the fresh-faced Phil had yet to discover a taste for such showmanship when he touched down at Narita at age 17 -- even with dual U.S.-Japanese citizenship, he would have had trouble had he jumped up and started dancing on the immigration counter. It wasn't until a few months later that he started throwing parties for his newfound friends on campus at Sophia University. From those humble beginnings, Phil's knack for throwing a great party has become his life (and livelihood).
