M-Sys, the Sendai-based operator of nine Yakiton Daikoku izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) and three Ganso Sendai Hitokuchi Gyoza Azuma restaurants, has opened one location after another in the city’s prime locations while most others in the industry suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To meet its aggressive immediate goal of having 25 stores by the spring of 2026, the firm is putting forward a personnel strategy centered on a policy of offering monthly wages of ¥300,000 to new hires.

In M-Sys’ restaurants, handwritten recruitment flyers are posted everywhere along with posters showing recommended foods. The flyers are adorned with phrases like, “The starting salary is ¥300,000 with or without experience,” “¥400,000 for managers,” and “Please feel free to ask our staff.”
