Aomori – A cave on the northeastern coast of Japan is drawing attention for the remarkable resemblance of its opening to the side profile of the title character from Studio Ghibli’s classic animation film “My Neighbor Totoro.”
The location of the cave in the district of Tomari in Rokkasho, Aomori Prefecture, has earned the attraction the nickname Tomari no Totoro, a pun on the original Japanese title of the 1988 film (“Tonari no Totoro”) about two girls who befriend magical forest creatures.
