Shaw-Han Liem brings new meaning to the term “math rock.”
The Toronto-based musician, who records under the moniker I Am Robot And Proud with a band, says he used mathematics to get the right sound and visual presentation for his seventh album, “Light and Waves.” Specifically, Liem says he designed computer programs to create unique drum sequences and manipulate compositions. The visual element comes in during his live performances, as on-screen projections move according to his loops and beats.
