If you're looking for a midweek party to tide you over until the weekend, a pair of Scissor Sisters gigs might be just what you're looking for.

A decade into their career, Scissor Sisters have shown themselves to be an enduring, refreshing and interesting pop group that flirts with the mainstream while still retaining some credibility and character. Next week sees the New York band bring their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to Tokyo and Osaka.

The last time I saw Scissor Sisters was in a raucous midnight performance at a Tokyo club. Having seen them play at numerous festivals before, I knew they'd put on an energetic show. It ended up being better. Fans who attend this run of Japan gigs will no doubt be treated to a polished performance by a band who are not afraid to mix their club music influences with stadium touches and disco-inspired flair. Prepare for generous helpings of camp and comic double-entendres provided in the onstage banter between band leaders Jake Shears and Ana Matronic.
