Annual festival of the shrine. This festival features various performances such as kyudo (Japanese-style archery), kendo, atsuta-kagura (Shinto dance with music) and taiko (Japanese drum). If it rains, fireworks display will be postponed until June 6.
Schedule & Key events:
from 10 a.m.: Ritual pray and various performances in the shrine precincts
5:30-8:30 p.m. Five kento makiwara (huge altars with 365 lanterns each) light up beside the torii gates of the shrine
7:40-8:30 p.m. Fireworks display at Jingu Park
Location: Atsuta-jingu Shrine, Jingu Park, Nagoya, Aichi
JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line to Nagoya Station. From there, take (1) JR Tokaido Honsen Line to Atsuta Station, and then walk 8 min.; (2) Meitetsu Nagoya Honsen Line to Jingu-mae Station, and then walk 3 min.
