Daisuke Matsuzaka will make his second start of the season on Wednesday, the New York Mets said Saturday.

Matsuzaka, who worked a scoreless inning in relief in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, has been working out of the bullpen with the exception of a spot start on May 25. Matsuzaka earned the win in that game after allowing two earned runs in six innings.

The Mets were forced to make a move to bolster their bullpen after using every reliever in a 14-inning game on Friday. The team called up former Hanshin Tigers pitcher Buddy Carlyle from Triple-A Las Vegas and sent Rafael Montero down.

"I'm not going to do anything differently," Matsuzaka said. "I've been preparing for what they've told me to do (work in relief). Now I'll just prepare for a start."

Overall this season, the 33-year-old Matsuzaka has a 2-0 record with one save and a 2.45 ERA in 17 games.
