The Chicago Cubs said Saturday they have dealt left-handed reliever Hisanori Takahashi to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Takahashi, 38, is under a minor-league contract and has been assigned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the Rockies' official website.
Takahashi, who is in his fourth year stateside, won a spot on the opening-day roster after signing a minor-league deal with the Cubs for the spring.
He made just three appearances for the Cubs with an ERA of 6.00 and was designated for assignment on April 16. At Triple-A Iowa, he was 1-0 with a 1.98 earned run average in 27⅓ innings over 20 games.
Takahashi has appeared in the majors in each of the last four seasons with the Mets, Angels, Pirates and Cubs, and is a combined 14-12 with 10 saves and a 3.99 ERA in 168 games.
