Yuri Fudo took a significant step toward capturing a third Japan LPGA Tour Championship crown on Friday after a second-round 69 extended her overnight lead to six strokes at the season-ending event. Fudo, the top earner on the JLPGA circuit for six seasons in a row from 2000, enjoyed another bogey-free round at Miyazaki Country Club, nailing three birdies to close with a halfway total of 10-under 134. Fudo, winner of this event in 2003 and 2004, teed off four strokes clear after opening with a 65 and picked up her first shot of the day with a birdie on the sixth hole. The 31-year-old added birdies with a chip-in on the 14th and a putt from around 10 feet on the 17th to finish with a healthy advantage over newly crowned money queen Momoko Ueda, who climbed into second with a 69.
