Renowned journalist and TV commentator Keigo Takeda died Sunday of pancreatic cancer at a hospital in Tokyo. He was 51.
After graduating from Keio University, Takeda served as editor-in-chief of the Japanese version of Newsweek from 2001 to 2010. A sharp-tonged but cool-headed news commentator, Takeda was a popular figure and appeared on a variety of TV programs, including “Tokudane” and “Mr. Sunday,” which are broadcast on Fuji TV.
Takeda, wearing a toupee after cancer treatments left him bald, announced last September on “Mr. Sunday” that he had been battling the disease.
