An anonymous donor left around 2,000 lottery tickets at City Hall in the city of Tochigi, with an accompanying note stating any prize money should be used to help victims of the massive flooding in eastern Japan in September, police said Tuesday.

A bag containing ¥600,000 worth of tickets was found inside an elevator in the City Hall parking garage, the police said.

A handwritten note addressed to the mayor said, "If any of these are winning tickets, please use the money to help victims of the torrential rain" that caused devastating floods in the region.

If the donor and the person who found the bag do not claim the tickets within five months, the city will receive any prize money.
