Three Chinese ships enter Japanese waters near Senkaku Islands

Three Chinese coast guard ships entered Japanese territorial waters off the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea on Sunday, Japanese Coast Guard officials said.

It was the 13th such intrusion by a Chinese government ship this year.

The Haijing 2102, Haijing 2305 and Haijing 2350 vessels entered Japanese waters north-northwest of the islet of Kubajima around 10 a.m., according to the Coast Guard’s 11th regional headquarters in Naha.

The Senkaku Islands are administered by Japan but are claimed by China, where they are called Diaoyu.
