Japan and the United States held a nuclear contamination exercise at the U.S. Navy Yokosuka base in Kanagawa Prefecture on Wednesday.

The drill centered on the scenario of a crew member aboard the nuclear aircraft carrier George Washington being exposed to radiation.

About 170 people, including officials from the U.S. Embassy and the prefectural government, took part, keeping each other informed on developments. They also moved the would-be victim in a way to limit further radioactive contamination.
