Radiation halves near No. 1 plant

Near-surface air radiation doses within 80 km of the Fukushima No. 1 atomic plant have halved over the last two years, the Nuclear Regulation Authority reported.

The radiation doses 1 meter above ground as of Sept. 28 were 47 percent below levels in November 2011 on average, the NRA said Wednesday. It calculated the doses based on data from its seventh aerial survey since the March 2011 meltdowns carried out at an altitude of 300 meters around the crippled plant.
