Ameba blogging site attacked

A total of 243,266 accounts at the Ameba blogging site were hit by fraudulent access between April 6 and Aug. 3, the site’s operator, CyberAgent Inc., has announced.

Personal information in the accounts, including members’ nicknames, email addresses and birthdates, may have been viewed, but so far no damage has been confimed, CyberAgent said.

User IDs and passwords used for the account intrusion are believed to have been stolen from other sites, the company said.
