Duty-free shop in Tokyo’s Daiba eyed

JIJI

The government is considering allowing a duty-free shopping facility to be set up in the Daiba district, a major Tokyo tourist spot, sources said Monday.

The move is part of the government’s efforts to more than triple the annual number of foreign tourists to Japan to over 30 million by 2030, the sources said.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga has already directed related ministries to discuss details, the sources said.
