No boost in Haneda-China flights

JIJI

The transport ministry will put off increasing flights between Tokyo International Airport at Haneda and Chinese cities planned under an agreement with Beijing, officials said Friday.

Regarding the plan to increase the daily number of Haneda-China flights by 12 starting in late March, talks apparently have not progressed between the two nations due to heightened tensions over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.

Last August, Japan and China agreed to introduce four flights between Haneda and Shanghai and another four between Haneda and Guangzhou in the daytime, and four more between Haneda and China between late at night and the early morning.
