OSAKA (Kyodo) The Osaka Securities Exchange said Monday it has agreed with Eurex, Europe's largest financial futures exchange, to launch negotiations on the cross-listing of stock-index futures and other investment instruments.

Such a deal would allow member firms of the OSE and Eurex to transact in derivative products listed on the other's bourse as well as to mutually recognize each other's members, it said.

Connecting the bourses' trading systems would make it possible for Japanese securities companies to trade the OSE's mainstay Nikkei stock average futures. It would also enable OSE members to trade Eurex listings.

Eurex is jointly operated by Deutsche Boerse AG and SWX Swiss Exchange. With market participants connected from 700 locations worldwide, trading volume at Eurex exceeded 1.07 billion contracts in 2004.
