LOS ANGELES – Musician Ryuichi Sakamoto has been nominated for the 73rd Golden Globe Award for the best motion picture score, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Thursday.
A presentation ceremony for the annual Golden Globe Awards, seen as a precursor to the Academy Awards, will be held on Jan. 10.
Sakamoto, 63, composed the musical score for “The Revenant,” in which American actor Leonardo DiCaprio plays the leading role. Sakamoto was nominated with German musician Alva Noto, whose real name is Carsten Nicolai.
The movie was nominated for a total of four award categories, including the best drama motion picture.
Among other movies, “Carol,” which depicts a romance between women in New York in the 1950s, was nominated for five categories, including the best drama motion picture. Nominees for the best musical or comedy motion picture include “The Big Short,” a story about the financial world.
