Soga open to Bali family reunion

NIIGATA — Repatriated abductee Hitomi Soga is willing to be reunited with her husband and their two daughters who remain in North Korea on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, the brother of another former abductee said Friday.

“I will be waiting (for the reunion on Bali) with great expectations,” the 45-year-old Soga was quoted as telling Toru Hasuike, the brother of former abductee Kaoru Hasuike, during a phone conversation.

Bali is being considered as a candidate venue, and the government hopes to arrange the reunion between Soga and her American husband, Charles Robert Jenkins, and their daughters by July 23, the birthday of the younger daughter, Belinda.
