Three-time World Cup midfielder Junichi Inamoto has joined Consadole Sapporo after being released earlier this month by Kawasaki Frontale, the J. League second-division club said on Saturday.

"I will give it everything I have got and try and help the club win promotion to J1," the 35-year-old Inamoto said.

A product of Gamba Osaka's youth scheme, Inamoto made his pro debut in 1997 and moved to English Premier League club Arsenal in 2001, before going on to play for Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City.

He had spells at Eintracht Frankfurt, Galatasaray and Rennes before joining Frontale in 2010.
