Japan was routed by Asian Championship winner Iran in a straight-sets defeat on the final day of the Men's Grand Champions Cup volleyball on Sunday.

Mahmoudi Shahram and Zarini Hamzeh led their team with 16 points apiece as Iran downed the host 25-17, 25-18, 25-14 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Earlier, World No. 1 Brazil prevailed 3-2 over World No. 3 Italy to win its third consecutive title and fourth overall. The South Americans finished with a 4-1 record on 12 points. London Olympic champion Russia downed the United States 3-0 to come second with a 4-1 mark on 11 points. Italy, which had a 2-3 mark, was third.

Iran was fourth, the U.S. team fifth and Japan last, respectively.
