Regarding the Oct. 24 article "Residents riled by Tokyo governor calling their noise complaint 'nonsense,' " Yokota Air Base was originally built in 1940. It has been in use since then.

I'm not quite sure I understand the logic of the people living there. Why move into an area around an active air base? Did they expect no noise from there? It's an air base. Air traffic is part of the program of an air base. With air traffic comes noise, that's normal. If you expect them to follow your schedules, that's just silly.

For once I agree with the governor of Tokyo. Their complaint is nonsense.
