I think both occasions are part of the selling strategy of chocolate companies. It would be better if both men and women exchanged gifts on the same day, as in other countries.

These occasions are very commercial. My husband buys me chocolates or flowers and we go out for a nice meal. The worst Valentine gift I ever received was a vacuum cleaner.

I think that Valentine's Day is a good excuse to go for a nice meal. But also, in the past, I have bought someone flowers and chocolates or taken my girlfriend on a shopping trip.
