Shohei Omori will get his first shot at a world boxing title on New Year's Eve, his WOZ gym announced Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Omori, who suffered his only defeat last December, will take on 32-year-old IBF world bantamweight champ Lee Haskins of Britain in front of his hometown fans at Kyoto's Shimazu Arena. Omori's record stands at 17-1 with 12 of the wins by knockout.

The fight will be part of a world title fight tripleheader, with countryman Kazuto Ioka making the fourth defense of his WBA world flyweight crown against undefeated Stamp Kiatniwat of Thailand, while Yukinori Oguni will fight IBF super bantamweight champion Jonathan Guzman of the Dominican Republic.
