Sara Takanashi triumphed in the season-ending World Cup event to claim her sixth individual title of the season, but narrowly missed her third consecutive overall championship on Friday.

The 18-year-old Takanashi had leaps of 128 and 127 meters en route to winning her fourth straight event with a total of 263.8 points. It was her 30th career victory on the circuit.

Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria, who was fifth in Friday's competition, captured her first overall World Cup championship, beating Takanashi by 34 points in the standings. Germany's Carina Vogt was third.

In a season of highs and lows, it all came together in the end.

"I was glad I could get two good jumps based on the level I am now," Takanashi said. "To win the overall championship, I have to be strong throughout the season. I want to use this disappointment as a springboard to do my best to lift the crystal trophy next season."

Yuki Ito, who won silver at this year's skiing world championships, finished fifth overall after placing seventh on Friday.
