Bulls’ Noah has knee surgery

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah underwent arthroscopic left knee surgery on Friday and is expected to spent the next eight to 12 weeks rehabilitating and recovering.

The operation was performed by team physician Brian Cole only days after the Bulls were eliminated by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Noah was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, anchoring a Chicago defensive effort that surrendered a league-low 91.8 points a game.

Noah averaged 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists during the regular season for Chicago.
